Abstract
This paper deals with details of the myths that we can find in the two treatises De sera numinis
vindicta and De genio Socratis. The aim is to make a comparison in order to establish what they
have in common and what is different and has no direct parallelism. We could conclude that the
dissimilar element found there - “a great abyss, round, as though a sphere had been cut away”1 –
is to be taken as our planet, the earth.
