The great meal: food metaphors in the description of religious transcendence in western culture
Resumo
Since they became self-conscious, human beings have manufactured
solutions to fill the spaces of invisibility associated to questions whose answers the
reality felt by the senses could not give. Through its diverse forms, religion provides
a solution to know or to interpret what humans do not see and which they reenact
through mythic narratives. Current analysis investigates some of the axial narratives
of Western culture on original and eschatological transcendence within the aspect
of food metaphors and symbolism. Can the sections related to transcendence be
represented as parts and agents of a big meal?
A religião,
