Creon, the tyrant of Antigone: his reception in Portugal
Resumo
The subject of Antigone appears, in Portugal during the 20th century,
in different recriations, in coincidence with the political experience of the country.
This article looks in particular to the profile of the tyrant, making a comparison
of two of the most impressive, Portuguese remaking of Sophoclean model: Júlio
Dantas and António Pedro Antigones.
O tema de Antígona aparece, no séc. XX português, em sucessivas reescritas,
que coincidem com a própria experiência política do país. Este artigo pretende
focar-se em particular no desenho do tirano, comparando o seu tratamento em
duas das mais sugestivas recriações portuguesas do modelo sofocliano: as Antígonas
de Júlio Dantas e de António Pedro.
