Genesis and concept of State in Fichte's Die Grundzüge
Resumo
In first place, this article begins with the distinction between the
real State and the rational State in which Fichte proposes in The
Closed Commercial State (1800), where economic unification requires
cultural unification (Nationalbildung), all the same. In second place,
the meaning of the absolute State in The Characters of the Contemporary
Age (1804-5) is analyzed; i.e., rebuilding the argumentation of
this work with the concepts of age, reason, Idea and culture. The
absolute State implies an equal and harmonic union of its members,
where it is distinguished and contrasts to the real and coercive
State. In the third place, the Fichtean concept of genesis as a
process, is intended to be clarified, which explains and allows to
deduce the factual in the Science of Knowledge. In fourth place, in
return to The Characters of the Contemporary Age to analyze precisely
the genesis of the State concept, from the Idea, management and
legitimacy. Here, the relevance of freedom and equality in the rational
State are shown. Finally, some considerations about the State
as an organic unity are made.
